The circuit court handles both criminal and civil matters. In criminal matters, the court has jurisdiction over misdemeanor cases. It also holds initial and preliminary hearings on felony cases.

The circuit courts are limited jurisdiction courts. The geographic boundaries of the circuit courts are the same as the nine judicial districts for the district courts, and there are circuit courts in all 23 counties. Municipal Court has jurisdiction over City Ordinance violation cases filed by the City Attorney's Office, Casper Police Department, Metro Animal Control, and Code Enforcement. The Municipal Court is located on the 5th floor of the Hall of Justice.

Shoshoni Municipal Court handles all violations to City Code and is authorized to impose fines depending on the violation. The Administrative Assistant does the receipting of fines and helps with other duties as needed by the Judge.

The municipal judge has jurisdiction over all criminal violations of ordinances of the City of Rawlins. Fines do not exceed $750 for any one offense and imprisonment does not exceed six months.
