Early Head Start
The Early Head Start Center Based program provides early learning, care and enrichment experiences to children in an early care and education setting with wrap-around childcare for children six weeks to three years old.
The Early Head Start program provides services for pregnant moms and children birth to three years old. It includes weekly home visits and socialization experiences twice a month for 1.5 hours. Home visits are individualized to help parents support their child’s growth and development. Parents stay with the child during the socialization and home visits.

All services are provided 12 months a year. This allows for continuity for child, families and staff; there is also less regression for children over the summer months. Children aged birth through five grow and develop so quickly – and with the elimination of three months of service per year, this could be a significant regression factor. Babies are born 12 months out of the year, and doctors, nurses, public health, parents, hospital staff and DFS need to be able to refer at point of need.
