Campus Connections | Psychology Center

Campus Connections

Campus Connections pairs youth (11-18 years old) at risk for behavioral and emotional difficulties in one-on-one mentoring relationships with undergraduate students in an on-campus community. Mentor-mentee pairs are grouped with other mentoring pairs in which youth gain friendships, academic support, exposure to pro-social activities, and opportunities for physical activity. Clinical psychology graduate students provide integrated therapy services for youth and families if needed.

At Bright Futures After School, mentors join a dynamic group of 5th graders at the Park County Library twice a month for enriching after school activities. Each event includes crafts, games, movement, meditation, informative speakers, character building, small group conversations over pizza. Mentoring relationships develop organically rather than through assigned matches. After School provides opportunities to connect, find purpose and develop self-worth.

One-to-One

At Bright Futures One-to-One, each mentor is matched with a designated K-12 student for the school year. Mentors join these students at their schools once a month to spend time together over lunch. Mentors provide their own transportation and Bright Futures provides the meals. Mentors and mentees are matched based on similar interests and preferences.

We offer the opportunity to connect a youth of middle school and high school ages with a mentor in Campbell, Crook, and Weston Counties.. The match is made through similar likes of the two persons. The mentor provides a positive influence on the mentee. The mentor provides the opportunity for the mentee to confide in when looking for healthy, unbiased advice from an adult.

The Congressional Award (gold, silver and bronze medals) can be earned by ANY YOUNG PERSON age 14-24. There is no GPA requirement, and accommodations will be made when needed. Develop self-confidence and community engagement by logging hours in voluntary public service, physical fitness, personal development and exploration. Participants need a trusted adult as an advisor.
